Bethel’s Andy Fors is a recent graduate of the White River Valley High School (WRVHS) where he pursued his passion for music and stage. Andy will be entering the University of Southern Maine’s Osher School of Music this fall, majoring in music education.

Andy has been in both chorus and band for nine years and has ben a member of the jazz band since his freshman year. He participated in the Winooski Valley District Music Festival every year of high school and the Winooski Jazz Festival for three of those years. In both his junior and senior years, he sang in the Vermont Allstate Choir and completed AP Music as a senior.

Amber Finch, Andy’s music teacher throughout high school, says she can’t imagine him without music in his life. “Not only is he an extremely talented vocalist and a solid trombone player, he is exuberant and bursting with energy in every musical endeavor he pursues (and he pursues it all!)”

Andy was in ten (!) Chandler Summer Youth musicals and four high school musicals. In Oliver, he played Bill Sikes, Sebastion in Little Mermaids. He performed in two “coffee house” events and in the rock/modern band Cat Scratch Fever which he started as WRVHS’s first such group.

Beyond his deep commitment to music, Andy has been in four high school plays. When he’s not engaged in music or the stage, he skis and explores culinary arts.

When asked what drives his passion for music, he said its “community”. “I find it fascinating how music can bring together people who know nothing about each other. People who are from different places with different interests and get them to work together to create something great. I want to be able to give the next generation of musicians the phenomenal education I was given.”
