Christopher McWilliams, Music Director

"It is my greatest joy to shepherd the Randolph Singers this coming spring season, 2024." 


Mr. McWilliams holds a BM Summa Cum Laude in Organ and Piano Performance, and an MM With Distinction, in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, NJ, where his courses included choral directing.  After graduation, he was a piano instructor at the Westminster Conservatory of Music from 2012 to 2020. During this time, Christopher taught music theory at the Princeton String Academy, and regularly performed in chamber music recitals. From 2011 to 2018, he served as organist of Princeton United Methodist Church.

Christopher is  currently Music Director at First Congregational Church of Berlin,  where he leads the adult choir, plays and maintains the organ and pianos, and collaborates with other soloists.  He was previously Music Director at Bethany United Church of Christ, in Montpelier, He gives private piano lessons in Barre or  remotely and also teaches music classes at the Monteverdi School of Music. 


Marta Borgstrom,  Accompanist

Marta Borgstrom conducted the Randolph Singers for three seasons from Spring 2022 to Fall 2023. She had accompanied Randolph Singers for many years prior and will be returning to that role.  Marta is an accomplished musician who plays piano, violin, and harp. She has been a musical director and accompanist for many productions at Randolph's Chandler Music Hall.  Marta is a retired elementary music teacher, having taught for 40 years in Vermont and New Jersey.  She pioneered a before-school drumming program for at-risk students as well as after-school enrichment lessons in violin.  In 2011 she was recognized as teacher of the year in Randolph.  A few years prior to that, she received Vermont's Alliance for Arts Education award from Governor Jim Douglas for her contributions to her community.

Susan Montgomery-Grout, Accompanist

 Susan Montgomery-Grout began playing piano at the age of 6, learning from her mother Jean, an accompanist with the Randolph Singers for many years.  Ms. Montgomery-Grout received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Boston University.  She  studied song literature and the art of collaborative piano playing with Allen Rogers, solo performance with Lenore Engdahl and baroque ensemble accompanying with Thomas Dunn.  Susan has extensive choral accompanying experience and was the pianist for 3 choral groups at the Longy School of Music for over 10 years during her tenure in Boston as well as numerous pit orchestras and  local performing groups.    Her other musical interests include flute, organ, singing with the Randolph Singers and recently has taken up the mandolin.  When not practicing, Susan enjoys skiing, yoga and cooking.
